Background

Yachtglanz GmbH sells high-quality, modern yacht accessories from various suppliers. The shop owner has operated an online shop for years, which had been realized as individual programming. He came across gaps in the database that could not be closed because the database was not flexible. In addition, the shop owner was not satisfied with the current warehouse management. The ordering process at various suppliers was not clear enough and the shop owner was unable to distribute the goods receipt between the stores of the shop correctly. In addition, you could not understand in the old shop solution what you had to additionally order for a specific supplier for the physical warehouse.

The shop also had problems with PayPal and Sofortüberweisung: There were no automatic payments and the admin of the shop had to manually assign all payments to the orders, which could lead to non-paid orders were sent by mistake.

Target

A new online shop based on Magento shop software was to be developed to replace the existing individually programmed solution because it no longer met the new requirements of the shop owner. First and foremost, the shop should meet all the requirements of Trusted Shops.

Another special feature was the display of delivery times in the shop - it should be taken into account that certain items were shipped directly from the shop owner, provided that they were in stock, and the others directly from our customer's suppliers.

PayPal and immediate transfer were to be connected as additional payment methods.

The new online shop should receive an OnPage SEO optimization.

All e-mails and documents should be implemented in the corporate design that has already been known to the customer for years.

Solution

Before starting the development process, we had to do the one-time article import from the old database.

The filter capability has been implemented using Magento attributes. If you create a new attribute, you can configure the attribute display as follows - use as a filter on the category pages, as an attribute in the table on the page of the group article, use as a filter for simple articles on the page of the group article. For the takeover of the data from the old online shop, we have used Magento import profile by extending it with more custom fields.

For the display of delivery times, we have programmed the following rules: - Delivery times are displayed depending on the warehouse to which the item is assigned.

For the problem with the warehouse management itself, we have installed the module Inventory Stock Management and added additional functions. Since an article can have different suppliers, it is now possible to choose the main supplier and to set up suppliers per country of delivery.

All e-mails and documents have been adapted to the corporate design of the shop.

After the shop had been completely implemented, it was checked for conformity under the Trusted Shops Protocol and the resulting comments were subsequently implemented. In addition, customers can now secure their purchase on the "thank you" page of Trusted Shops.
